What began as a mission to get adolescents off the street continues forty two years later as a full developed child welfare agency serving abused and neglected youth across the Chicagoland area.
MYS is continually adapting to meet the emerging needs of youth in the community. This commitment to effective services has been a trademark of this organization since its inception in 1965. Youth in our care rely on us as their “family”. As they lean on us for shelter and strength, we teach them skills of independent living and healthy decision-making to become empowered to demonstrate and become self supporting, free of drugs, crime and hunger. MYS is unique for its longstanding and enduring emphasis on skill acquisition and educational achievement to gain, attain and support “lifelong” independence.
We rely on the help and support of dedicated staff, volunteers, and friends to accomplish this work.
