Shelter Specialty Center
Anchor House, located at 1737 W. Touhy Ave. in the Rogers Park community in Chicago, in partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services, is a Specialty Shelter that operates twenty four hours/seven days a week for males between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age. These youth arrive at our doorstep with literally just the clothes on their backs, with no where else to go and/or no one else to turn to.
Our immediate goal is to stabilize these youth while providing them with a safe and nurturing environment. Every youth in the shelter is ssigned a case manager and a therapist. As they enter the program they will receive a mental health assessment and an individualized treatment plan.
While staying at Anchor House they will receive individual and group sessions, be provided with a variety of specialized case management services, which includes placing them a suitable home that will address their emotional/mental needs, address past issues which have prevented them a stable placement in the past.
Hours of Operation
While the center is open and operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, accessibility to the facility is during customary business hours Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Residential Program Supervisor is on-call 24 -7.
