MYS is a non-profit, non-sectarian child welfare agency that serves otherwise homeless abused and neglected or delinquent youth under the direction of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services or the Department of Corrections. We also serve at risk youth in the general population by providing services to schools or via specialized programming specifically tailored to meet the needs of a community.

Methodist Youth Services, Inc. is licensed by the State of Illinois and Certified as a provider of Medicaid eligible services. With the guidance of the United Methodist Health and Welfare Ministries of the Northern Illinois Conference, the agency provides clinical and case management services to “at risk” youth and families in each of its programs.

MYS currently offers shelter care for boys, independent living services for young men and women transitioning from foster care, transitional living housing for young adult males, and community outreach services to schools.

In partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Corrections, our more traditional programming includes a Specialty Shelter in the Rogers Park community for male youth between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age. These youth arrive at our doorstep with literally just the clothes on their backs, with no where else to go and no one else to turn to. Our immediate goal is to stabilize these youth and to provide them with a safe and nurturing environment. Every young man in the shelter is assigned a case manager and a therapist. As they enter the program they will receive a mental health assessment and an individual treatment plan. While placed at Anchor House they will also receive individual and group sessions and will be provided with a wide variety of case management services, including finding them a suitable placement which will address their needs and the issues confronting them which has prevented stable placement in the past.

Hours of Operation

Anchor House is located in the Rogers Park neighborhood and serves a total of 8 residents on a daily basis. While the center is open and operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, accessibility to the facility is during customary business hours Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Residential Program Supervisor is on-call
24 -7.

Morse House, a TLP3 program addresses the social, employability and self reliance needs of young men between the ages of 18 and 20 ½ years of age as they begin the transition toward independence. In a congregate living group home model, each youth has private living space, access to computers and moderate amenities.

This program is designed to serve up to eight (8) male youth. Six (6) youth reside in the group home setting and two (2) youth who have proven self-sufficiency, residing in their own apartment. All of the youth in the program receive intensive case management services while in the group home or in their own apartment. Program components also include: individual therapy as required, strengthening family support, facilitating life-skills training, coaching, self-reliance, modeling pro social skills and managing budgets.

In order to help the young men in the Morse House Program achieve greater success at achieving self-sufficient independence, an emphasis is placed on education and employment. For some that may mean a return to high school or assistance in obtaining their GED certification, attending a trade school or help in obtaining employment. The program provides 24 hour, 7 seven days a week supervision, incorporating structured programming as required on an individual basis.
